How is AI SEO different from regular SEO for a real estate agent?
Updated August 31, 2026
Regular SEO works for a position on a page of links, and the click that follows. AI SEO, also called AEO, works for a citation in the answer an AI writes before anyone clicks. Both SEO and AEO can work together, but a growing share of buyers and sellers read the AI answer and never reach the SEO links, so presence in the AI answer is replacing the click as the thing to win.
Some of what you built for regular SEO carries straight over. AI cannot cite a site it cannot read, so a crawlable site, fast pages, honest titles and real content are the floor for both approaches. If your site ranks nowhere on Google, fix that first, because the AI engines lean on the same signals of quality and access.
What changed is the unit of content. Regular SEO optimizes pages around keywords. AI cites pages that answer questions, and in DigiSnax’ own research we’ve found that cited pages share the same shape almost without exception: one question per page, the question restated in the title and the web address, a visible and recent date, and a topic that is a decision someone is facing rather than a keyword phrase. Link building, the heaviest lever in old SEO, matters less here than structure and currency. We have measured undated, better-linked pages losing the citation to dated pages that address the question directly.
The practical version: keep your SEO foundation, then add the question layer on top of it. Publish dated pages that answer what your buyers and sellers actually ask, mark them up so a machine can read the structure, update them when the market moves, and start measuring whether AI cites you, because rankings alone no longer tell you if you are being seen.
